An evening of electro-acoustics with many special guest performer / composers from FIRST AVENUE'S fifteen year history. Premiering: BIRTHDAY SUIT(E) for First Avenue and guests.

FIRST AVENUE will present the final concert of its Fifteenth Anniversary Concert Season on Thursday, April 10th at historic Washington Square Methodist Church, 135 West 4th Street in New York City's West Village. The concert will begin at 8 P.M. Tickets at the door are by donation of $10/$5 students and seniors.

For fifteen years FIRST AVENUE concerts have included instrumentalists/composers, jugglers, poets, singers, actors, clowns, dancers, mimes, painters, video artists, philosophers and even physicists. The group has received awards from National Endowment for the Arts , New York State Council on the Arts, Mary Flagler Cary Charitable Trust and Meet the Composer. First Avenue has recorded on the Newport Classic and O.O. Discs Record labels. This final concert of its fifteenth season promises to continue the tradition of bringing together many of the luminaries from New York City's downtown music scene (former guests of First Avenue).

The program will include works from First Avenue's many notable guest performers and composers, as well as old favorites and new works by First Avenue. The concert will include the premier of BIRTHDAY SUIT(E): a series of short, revealing compositions and improvisations dedicated to First Avenue and performed in quick, quirky succession by First Avenue and its many guests:. Composer/Performers: Elliott Sharp, Elizabeth Panzer, Dan Barrett, Jim Pugliese, Bruce Gremo, Anthony Coleman, Boris Rayskin and Greg Kitzis. Composers contributing new works to BIRTHDAY SUIT(E): Pauline Oliveros, Michelle Dibucci, Carolyn Steinberg, Elliott Sharp, Ned Rothenberg, Steve Mackey, Connie Cooper, Jon Deak, Anthony Coleman, Ben Neill, Tania Leon, Lee Ellickson and Eleanor Hovda.
